Foreign Language Resources
The National Pesticide Information Center receives over 24,000 questions each year from a diverse audience. In order to serve a broader portion of the community, NPIC has the ability to address questions concerning pesticides in multiple foreign languages.
A new agreement with Language Line Services, Inc. connects NPIC with interpreters trained in medical and scientific terminology for real-time interpretation in more than 170 languages.
This service is available 7 days a week and is the same service used by numerous poison control centers accross the United States.
The National Pesticide Information Center and the EPA are both interested in advancing environmental justice and reaching out to traditionally underserved populations. Environmental Justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. As such, NPIC has made arrangements to accommodate individuals who speak foreign languages.
